Enhancing a Project’s Renewable Energy Potential

LEED-Volume

Green Technologies, as the Sustainability & LEED Consultant on the Project, conducted extensive analysis to enhance the Renewable Energy Potential by the integration of Solar Power.

The project, a multi-level Passenger Terminal Building spanning 180,000 square meters to be constructed involves the development of a new Main Terminal Building, including two new Passenger Concourses with a connection link to the existing Terminal Building, as part of an Airport Expansion Project pursuing LEED for New Construction under LEED V3.

Green Technologies reviewed the existing Renewable Energy System Design on the Project adopting Solar PV and Solar Thermal for Hot Water Generation, and recommended technically and commercially viable opportunities to enhance the integration of Renewable Energy on site by increasing the installed capacity of Solar PV from 270 kWp (Baseline Case) to 3.55 MWp (Proposed Case), coupled with a higher capacity Solar Thermal System for Hot Water Generation, to maximize energy savings in the building. Through this approach, the Project furthermore earns the maximum LEED Credit Points available for EAc2: On-Site Renewable Energy.
